A study from the sculpture of the same title. The two versions of this sculpture that I have seen are at the Croker Art Museum in Sacramento and the Minneapolis Art institute. Both statues are in marble and are life size. The sculpor, Randolph Rogers (1825-1892) is a noted American artist and created the statue (Croker Museum) in 1874-1875.
