Choreography: Lar Lubovitch (1997).
Original musical score by Elliot Goldenthal. “Othello realizes the dramatic and philosophical possibilities of ballet, fills us with the terror and pity of Shakespeare’s tragedy, and does all this and more in a dialectic of classical rigor and modern anarchy of movement that could only have come from the country that gave birth to modern dance. It is an American masterpiece.”
