Impromptu (Hemdale, 1991), British Movie Poster Final Key Art by Bob Peak. Original final key art used for the British poster design of 1991’s Impromptu, accomplished with gouache, watercolor, and mixed media elements on a 27″ x 36.5″ artist’s leaf and depicting George Sand (Judy Davis) against a white background. Signed by Bob Peak on the image. Accompanied by a watercolor and pencil montage on 24″ x 12″ artist’s board depicting a scene from the movie. The sparse surface area and illustration style reminiscent of midcentury magazines like The New Yorker and Harper’s Bazaar speaks to a more mature period of Peak’s work, in which the flourishes that defined his earlier works drifted away, leaving only the central image to remain. Notably, this is the last poster design Peak worked on before his passing in 1992. Items exhibit some signs of wear and age. The poster image is for reference only and is not included with this lot. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
